The Coromandel is about 2 hours drive from Auckland and is a very popular holiday destination for Aucklanders.

The peninsula has many sheltered beaches, picnic areas and camping sites and gets very busy during the holiday season. We visited around Christmas time and there we lots of families taking their vacations. (more…)

Waiheke Island

Waiheke Island is a short (35 minutes) ferry-ride from downtown Auckland. It’s a beautiful little retreat from the busy hustle and bustle of Auckland and offers a wide range of activities for visitors.

We visited Waiheke several times whilst living in Auckland and enjoyed bathing in the sea at Oneroa Beach and supping a cool beer in the beach-side bars at Onetangi. (more…)
